My Son and ADHD
By Kelly
At times I feel like being a recluse
to parents at school your disorder is just an excuse
it's not an excuse I try to say
but we will never stop people from feeling that way
You see they have not been through what we have been through
at times I think, if only they knew
how much pain we have been through together
and the fight we have to face forever and ever
Your son hit my child and bruised him nearly
I try to explain it's not his fault really
I can see it in their face they're angry with me
for being the mother of a child so nasty
I will always put up with your trouble and strife
because I'm so pleased to have you in my life
my only son, you mean everything to me
you are far more special than just a child with ADHD
Your smile, your love, your protection, your humor
these are things I will always remember
OK we'll have bad days which we'll go through together
and my love for you will grow, good or bad day whatever
I wish I could take your place, it really breaks my heart
for punishing you so much, right at the start
a thousand kisses and hugs is what I owe you
to make up for the apologies that I made you do
Well this is my poem for my son Jamie
He's not just a seven year old with ADHD
This boy, he owns my heart and soul
Getting him through life on the right track will be goal.
