ADD/ADHD Natural Remedies

Melotone
Kerri wrote to us saying......

"I have a 7 year old son (Lee) with ADHD. Lee reacted very badly to Ritalin and became extremely moody, depressed and aggressive whilst taking it. I have now found a product called Melotone (marketed in South Africa by a company called Sportron) which is absolutely fantastic. It is a natural product, full of vitamins and fatty acids, and it has made a huge difference to Lee's life. For the first time ever, he actually wants to sit down and learn his numbers or colour in and draw, he is becoming more confident and less restless. To ascertain whether it was the Melotone that helped, I took him off it for a couple of weeks and his ADHD behavioural problems reappeared. He's now back on Melotone and will stay on it now!

I found this information on Melotone on the Net, and as I mentioned before I can highly recommend this product. I have absolutely no commercial interest in Sportron, I am just a very satisfied customer and mother. Just another note, a highly respected South African homeopath/osteopath/naturopath, Dr L Pleass, prescribes Melotone and other Sporton products to his patients. I live in South Africa so I don't know whether it is available in the UK.

The 'natural' alternative to Ritalin.
What is Melotone Syrup? Melotone Syrup is a liquid nutritional supplement specifically designed for children and adults who require essential fatty acids and who prefer supplementation in liquid form. Essential fatty acids are nutrients which are important for concentration, skin integrity and normal activity levels. How does the Melotone Syrup work? Melotone Syrup provides essential nutrients such as Evening Primrose Oil and Salmon Oil. Minerals such as Calcium, Magnesium and Chromium, and a wide range of vitamins, including the B vitamins, are also included. Melotone Syrup is presented in a fructose and honey base, as many people have a sensitivity to refined and simple sugars. Who should take Melotone Syrup? Melotone Syrup is especially useful in meeting the nutritional needs of ADHD children. ADHD children have an increased need for nutritional support to enhance their development and performance. Melotone Syrup provides these essential nutrients and co-factors.

Dr Billy (from our "Ask the Expert Forum") wrote to us saying......

"Dear Simon,

I have just completed a small research project on a product called Meletone sold in South Africa for ADHD and recommended by homepaths.

41 cases who were referred to me for a medical assessment for ADHD were on this product and all failed to respond as suggested by the parents at the first interview. That's why they came to see me seeking help.

In other words a 100% failure rate on the product. All were placed on Ritalin as well as counselling and remediation when indicated, and no other treatment.

This same group of children showed a 95% success rate on Ritalin. 39 of the 41 are responding to Ritalin. One parent stopped Ritalin because she was afraid of it and one I have no information of why they did not return.

So much for herbal remedies.

Tom wrote to us saying......

"I read with interest your article on Melotone as I have been using it for my own boys for almost 5 years in SA. Our eldest son was told that he had to have Ritalin as he was ADD but we were very unhappy with this medical advice as we had researched the evidence and were more concerned about the side effects than benefits. Who wants a zombie. We used Melotone and after about 6 weeks we started getting the benefit. It was not immediate as it took some time for him to respond (unlike a drug that takes over the Melotone was helping his body). My younger son had the same diagnosis (more emphatically from his teachers) and we started giving it to him in second grade. His teacher was so impressed that she insisted on keeping a bottle at school and giving it to him herself if he forgot to take it, just to make sure.

It is now available in the UK. Please contact sales@sportron.co.uk and they will deliver it to your home."

Tom
