ADHD AWARENESS WEEK "ADHD IS REAL" 18TH - 23RD SEPTEMBER 2006

There will be media coverage and many events going on throughout the country and the week will finish with hopefully a huge family fun day of a Sponsored walk in Richmond Park, Surrey.

We are hoping that media coverage will include interviews on GMTV on Monday 18th and also on the Sky News Channel and various other media exposure throughout the UK during the week on local stations.

There is also the launch of 2 new books on ADHD one for children and one for teachers:

Everything a Child Needs to Know About ADHD by Dr C R Yemula: This book is written as an interesting story with colourful illustrations, for young children aged 6 to 12 years, to improve their understanding of such a complex condition.

Do You Know About ADHD Sir? by Josh Jones aged 11: This book was written by Josh Jones who has ADHD in an attempt to make his teacher more aware of ADHD and to encourage his teacher to support him and to understand him. This book has been published in partnership with the Liverpool ADHD Foundation.

These books can be ordered from us here at Thanet ADDers if you are interested in ordering copies of either of these please fill in the form at the bottom and return to us and once they are launched and available we will let you know the cost then if you wish to order these you can send us payment and we will get hold of them for you.

We also have stocks of ADHD Wristbands and Squidgy Stress Relief Brains at the cost of £2.50 each - the brain have been really popular in schools throughout the UK and a number have ordered loads of these for their schools to give to pupils who need to fidget a lot of the time:

If you wish to order any of the wristbands or brains to show your support you can order these direct from us here by completing the form at the bottom and sending it to us with cheque or postal order for the total amount payable to adders.org and we will send these out directly to you.

Here in Thanet we are not officially running any specific events but people who would like to take part in the National Sponsored Walk on 23rd September Richmond Park, Surrey organised by ADDISS are to help raise funds for National Charity ADDISS and Thanet ADDers. If you wish to take part you can participate as a family, raising funds as a family rather than as an individual. We hope this will be an enjoyable day and an opportunity to meet other families are welcome to contact ADDISS on 02089069068 for sponsor forms.

Registration will take place from 10.30am on the day with an intended start time of 12 noon starting at Roehampton Gate.
