| adders.org - Donations |
"OK", I hear you say, "Here's the catch!
All this Information and Support and now they hold their hand out for donations."
Well the fact is that we do not actively fundraise so no, we are not expecting donations from anyone. From time to time however, we do receive emails from kindly folk who would like to send us a donation and in the past, if they are outside the UK, we have had to suggest they make it to a local organisation as accepting non UK cheques and currency often dissolves the amount given, to next to nothing after the bank has taken its cut.Now though, thanks to PayPal, you can make an online secure donation to adders.org ADD/ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) Online Support Group, using your credit or debit card from anywhere in the World. The paypal account is in the name of adders.org, and all donations from adders.org via this go directly to help with the running costs of adders.org
There appears to be one slight problem with the paypal method of donating. Since we have added a shopping cart to the Charity Stall page we have had to alter the way we charge for postage and packing - reason for this is due to increased postage costs and the changes to how postage is now calculated.
Unfortunatly this has caused a slight problem with the donations as well - the problem is that paypal do not give us the option not to charge postage and packing on donations. To my mind I cannot see how this works as a donation does not need anything sent out to the person who donated. However going through the paypal site for all of this I have not found any way to remove the postage and packing option from the donations button.
Therefore please to those who wish to donate a sum to adders.org can I ask you to send your donation as normal but take off the amount that is being charged for postage from the initial donation figure that you type in.
The scale of postage and packing fees is below so that you can work out before you start how much you will be charged on the amount you are intending to donate.
postage & packing  =  £ 2 for amounts between  £    0.01    -    £    9.99
postage & packing  =  £ 4 for amounts between  £  10.00   -     £  24.99
postage & packing  =  £ 6 for amounts between  £  25.00   -    £  74.99
postage & packing  =  £ 8 for amounts between  £  75.00   -    £149.99
postage & packing  =  £10 for amounts between  £150.00   -     and up
Obviously if you wish to pay postage and packing fee as well as the donation you wish to donate then of course we would very gratefully accept all amounts that you wish to donate!!

With over 3,000 unique visitors a day to adders.org, many of whom download our free software programs, we now have pay for a dedicated server which costs us 10 times more than ordinary web hosting used to. Unfortunately we can't run on fresh air and we used to be able to cover all the cost from our own pockets and still do to a certain extent but now advertising and the occasional donation helps towards the costs of not only running this website but also helping our own local ADD/ADHD non profit support group, Thanet ADDers here in Kent, England.
All of the advertising revenue, which isn't a huge amount by any means, goes towards the costs of running this website, our 24 hour telephone helpline in the UK, sending out our quarterly newsletter to our local members, constant campaigning for the rights of ADDers in the UK, organising local talks, stocking our lending library and lots more. We would like to do even more, such as, proper printed leaflets for all local surgeries, clinics and pharmacies in our area, restart our weekly Youth Group in proper premises with trained helpers, run a summer camp, the list is endless.
Advertising banners are located at the top of most pages. I have tried to avoid and will hopefully continue to do so, any kind of pop up notice or exit page as I find these even more irritating than banners. Our advertising agent is Google Adsense, plus we are an affiliate of Ask Jeeves, hence the search engine boxes. We are also affiliates of Amazon.com and co.uk and the small amount of commission earned on the sale of books is paid in Gift Certificates which we use to buy books for our lending library of ADD/ADHD titles. We are not however, affiliates of any of the Natural Remedy producers shown on our site, or any other product you might see us mention.
So if you wish to help our cause, then by all means visit our sponsors or donate directly as above, we would be grateful if you did but there is certainly no obligation for you to do so. If you would like to view our privacy policy then please click here.
Thank you for visiting adders.org
